I can hardly believe I’m writing this, but I’ve now spent more than 14 years photographing newborns and growing families across Melbourne’s west.
Fifteen years of tiny toes.
Sleepy stretches.
New parents walking into the studio looking equal parts exhausted and completely in love.
Toddlers becoming big siblings.
Families coming back with their second, third and fourth babies.
And so many little people I’ve had the privilege of watching grow.
When I first picked up a camera professionally, I don’t think I fully understood what this work would become.
I knew I loved photography.
But I don’t think I realised how much I would love the people part of it.
The trust.
The stories.
The quiet moments.
The privilege of being invited into such a brand-new season of someone’s family life.
Because newborn photography is not just about taking beautiful photos of a baby.
It’s about slowing down long enough to remember what this tiny stage felt like.
Newborn sessions need patience more than perfection
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after all these years, it’s that newborn sessions cannot be rushed.
Babies don’t care about timelines.
They need feeding.
Changing.
Cuddles.
Settling.
Sometimes a little extra time.
Sometimes a lot of extra time.
And that is completely okay.
A calm newborn session is not about pushing through a checklist of poses. It’s about reading your baby, following their cues and creating space for them to feel safe and settled.
Some babies sleep deeply.
Some are wide awake.
Some need extra feeds.
Some want to be held more.
Some are calm from the beginning, and some need a little time to find their way.
None of that means anything is going wrong.
It just means your baby is being a baby.
And after more than 15 years as a newborn photographer in Melbourne’s west, I can promise you that patience makes all the difference.
Safety & Connection have always comes first
Newborn photography has changed a lot over the years.
Trends have come and gone.
Props have changed.
Editing styles have changed.
Social media has definitely changed.
But one thing has always stayed the same for me: your baby’s safety and comfort comes first.
Always.
I never force babies into positions they don’t naturally want to be in. I don’t believe in pushing through if a baby is uncomfortable, unsettled or clearly telling us they need something different.
My style is natural, calm and baby-led.
That means your newborn is supported, comfortable and photographed in a way that feels gentle and safe.
The goal is not to create a photo that looks impressive but feels stressful behind the scenes.
The goal is to create photographs that feel beautiful, honest and full of connection – while your baby is treated with the care they deserve.

The simplest photos are often the most meaningful
Over the years, I’ve learned that the photos families return to most are often the simple ones.
A tiny hand wrapped around your finger.
A newborn curled into your chest.
A little stretch.
A yawn.
The way your baby fits so perfectly in your arms.
The quiet look between two very tired, very proud parents.
Those moments don’t need much.
They don’t need big props or complicated setups.
They just need space.
That’s why my studio in Altona Meadows is kept soft, simple and neutral. The focus stays on your baby, your connection and the tiny details you’ll want to remember.
Because one day, you won’t quite believe they were ever that small.

Parents need looking after too
Newborn sessions are not just about the baby.
They’re about the whole family.
And honestly, most parents arrive in that hazy newborn bubble where everything feels beautiful and overwhelming at the same time.
You might be tired.
You might still be recovering.
You might be feeding around the clock.
You might feel a bit nervous about leaving the house.
You might be wondering whether your baby will settle, whether your toddler will cooperate, or whether you’ll feel comfortable in photos.
I get it.
That’s why the experience matters so much.
My job is not just to photograph your baby.
It’s to make the session feel calm, guided and manageable for you too.
You don’t need to know what to do.
You don’t need to arrive perfectly put together.
You don’t need to apologise if your baby cries or needs a feed.
You just need to arrive as you are.
I’ll guide the rest.

Watching families grow is the best part
One of the greatest privileges of this work is seeing families come back over the years.
I’ve photographed tiny newborns who later returned as toddlers.
Toddlers who became big siblings.
Families who came back with their second, third and fourth babies.
Parents who walked in years later and still felt like welcoming old friends.
That never gets old.
And it’s not something I take lightly.
There is something incredibly special about being trusted with more than one chapter of a family’s story.
The first baby.
The next baby.
The growing sibling bond.
The way everyone changes, softens, stretches and grows into each new season.
It’s one of the reasons photographing families and newborns means so much to me.
Because these photos are not just for now.
They become part of your family’s history.
Melbourne’s west will always feel like home
My studio is based in Altona Meadows, and I’m so proud to photograph families from all across Melbourne’s west.
Werribee.
Point Cook.
Altona.
Williamstown.
Hoppers Crossing.
Tarneit.
Yarraville.
Newport.
And all the beautiful little pockets in between.
This side of Melbourne feels like home to me.
It’s where I’ve built my studio, where I was raised, where I’m raising my own family, and photographed so many families as they’ve grown.
And I love that people come here not for something stiff or overly polished, but for newborn photos that feel relaxed, natural and meaningful.
Reflecting on 14 Years: What I’ve Learned
Looking back on the last 14 years, I’ve learned so much—not just about photography, but about life. Being a newborn photographer has taught me patience, compassion, and the importance of cherishing the little moments. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly babies grow and change, and it’s a reminder to savor every stage of life.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the value of trust. When families choose me to capture their newborn, they’re trusting me with their most precious memories. That trust is something I never take for granted, and it’s what drives me to continually improve my craft.
The Future of Newborn Photography in Melbourne’s West
As I look ahead, I’m excited for what the future holds. New trends in newborn photography are always emerging, and I’m committed to staying on the cutting edge while still offering the timeless, classic images that families love. I’m also looking forward to welcoming new families into my studio and continuing to capture those first precious moments of life.
To all the families who have been a part of my journey over the past 14 years—thank you. Your trust, support, and love have made this journey possible. And to those of you who are just discovering my work, I can’t wait to meet you and your little one.

Your Memories, My Passion
As I celebrate 14 years as a newborn photographer in Melbourne’s West, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible journey this has been. Every session is a reminder of why I started this career—to capture the beauty and innocence of newborns and to create lasting memories for families.
If you’re looking for a newborn photographer in Melbourne’s West, I would be honoured to be a part of your journey. Let’s create something beautiful together.
